Governance

Local governance is an increasingly salient framework for sustainable long-term development that prioritizes grassroots communities taking charge of decision-making procedures. IDI is dedicated to building the capacity of local actors to lead governance processes, working directly with target populations to empower them with the skills and tools to create relevant solutions to community challenges. IDI also collaborates with local government bodies, civil society organizations, community-based organizations, and community leaders to envision and implement mechanisms for the active participation of local target groups in governance structures. By augmenting the capacity of local stakeholders to engage in decision-making processes and facilitating collaboration between local actors and governments, IDI is committed to the practice of locally-led governance.
